Its a Go Area For Women

ARE you a woman and craving a spot to unwind, enjoy a drink, and relish a scrumptious meal? Well then, there’s a specially crafted place just for you in the heart of Soweto.

Brutal Fruit Spritzer has introduced a world-class SheBeen restaurant in Molapo, Soweto, launching on 9 August. This endeavor is in partnership with South African Brewery’s Sharp’s Responsible Trader Programme, ensuring adherence to the necessary requisites for operating a consumption venue.

These prerequisites encompass ample lighting both inside and outside the establishment, operational CCTV cameras, and the presence of visible personnel to uphold order and propriety. Additionally, these spaces are mandated to display accessible communication materials that advocate responsible drinking. The restrooms must be equipped with hygienic basins for handwashing, while well-defined, well-lit, fully functional restrooms should be accessible to all.

Throughout the month of August, only women are invited to this space to mingle with their female compatriots. However, starting from September, men aged 18 and above will also be welcomed into the restaurant. Operating hours are set from Thursday to Sunday each week, spanning from 5 pm until midnight.

This SheBeen has been revitalized and modernized to meet restaurant standards. Previously known as RockerFella, it has now transformed into SheBeen. The launch event was attended by various celebrities including Khuli Chana and poet Lebo Mashile.

“We understand the significance of crafting environments where women can revel and have fun without inhibition. Thus, we’ve established this women-only pop-up venue.”

Candice van den Bosch, Acting Head of Brand for Brutal Fruit Spritzer, expressed.

Zoleka Lisa, Vice-President of Corporate Affairs at South African Breweries, stated that their responsible trading program evaluates 30,000 retailers annually to ensure they comply with responsible trading practices, including elements that contribute to safer spaces for women. Outlets meeting these criteria are deemed SheBeen compliant and will be acknowledged by the brand.

Lerato Maphosa, Interim Manager of the SheBeen, noted that they offer an array of food, cocktails, alcoholic beverages, and more. The establishment is staffed with three security personnel, four waitresses, chefs, and additional personnel, while also equipped with a backup generator to address potential load shedding.
