Africa’s Premier League Stars: Continent’s Standout Performers Revealed

The 2024–25 Premier League season is now over, and African stars left a lasting mark—with Mohamed Salah leading the charge. The “Egyptian King” powered Liverpool to the title with 47 goal involvements, tying a record and earning Player of the Season. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, from Cameroon, impressed with 20 goals, while his teammate, DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa, also shone with 19 goals. Another standout African performer was Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth, who scored 11 goals in what was his best-ever tally. In midfield, Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi and Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye, playing for Fulham and Everton respectively, showed creative and defensive dominance. Meanwhile, another Nigerian and Fulham footballer, Calvin Bassey, stood tall among defenders, while Congolese Aaron Wan-Bissaka dazzled for West Ham. But it wasn’t all glory as Cameroon’s Andre Onana endured a tough season for a struggling Manchester United. Despite this, the players’ performances prove that Africa’s Premier League influence is rising—and evolving—in remarkable ways.
