The Undulating Stadium Design for Al-Ahly Football Club near Cairo

Architecture studio Gensler has revealed its design for a new 42,000-seat stadium outside Cairo, serving as the first home for Egypt’s Al-Ahly football club. The stadium features a curving asymmetric facade and a sunken football pitch, complying with height restrictions due to nearby flight paths. Designed as part of the Al-Ahly Club Sports City masterplan, it aims to host various large-scale events. The stadium includes double-tiered stands on three sides, fostering fan-player connection, and an arched window on the fourth side offering views from a public square. An asymmetric cable-net roof ensures unobstructed views for spectators.
