Ghana and UAE Strike $1B Tech Deal to Transform Africa’s Digital Future

Abu Dhabi and Accra have inked a landmark $1 billion deal to build the Ghana-UAE Innovations and Technology Hub, aiming to position Ghana as a digital powerhouse in Africa. Spearheaded by the UAE’s Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), the hub will host over 11,000 global companies—including Microsoft, Meta, and IBM—at a 25-square-kilometre site in Ningo-Prampram. The project promises to fuel AI innovation, business process outsourcing, and data-driven solutions, among others, across the continent. Ghana’s Communication Minister, Samuel Nartey George, hailed it as a bold leap toward digital sovereignty and inclusive development. The hub will also support Ghana’s One Million Coders Programme, fostering homegrown talent to shape Africa’s digital future and making the country a magnet for innovation, investment, and technological leadership.
