Namibia Bids Farewell to Founding President Sam Nujoma

Sam Nujoma, Namibia’s founding president, was laid to rest on March 1, 2025, at the Heroes Acre in Windhoek after passing away in February at the age of 95. Thousands gathered, including southern African leaders, to honor the man who led the country to independence from South Africa. Nujoma’s leadership in the independence struggle and his role in fostering national reconciliation after independence were celebrated. His legacy remains strong in Namibia, with many remembering him for uniting the country and guiding it to freedom. He served as the first president of Namibia, holding office for three terms.
