Taliban and Burkina Faso Forge New Trade Ties in Tehran

In an unexpected diplomatic move, Taliban and Burkina Faso envoys met in Tehran to lay the groundwork for collaborating on trade, mining, agriculture, and vocational training. The meeting between Taliban acting ambassador to Iran Maulvi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani and his Burkina Faso counterpart Mohammad Kabura signals both governments’ growing interest in forging unconventional alliances. According to a statement from the Afghan embassy, both sides also pledged to send private sector delegations to explore trade opportunities. The talks are part of Burkina Faso’s broader push to diversify its partnerships amid regional instability and shifting alliances.
