Africa-Asia Mega Bridge Moves Ahead as Planning Wraps

Plans are finally complete for the long-awaited $4 billion bridge linking Africa and Asia via Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with construction ready to begin. First unveiled in 2016 by King Salman, the project—dubbed the “Moses Bridge” for its symbolic location—will stretch across the Strait of Tiran, connecting Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh to Saudi Arabia’s Ras Hamid. Egypt’s transport minister confirmed that planning is complete, and the bridge could even become a tunnel. The structure is expected to enhance regional trade, tourism, and logistics while serving as an alternative pilgrimage route to Mecca. The bridge is expected to complement Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion NEOM project. It has been touted as a rare diplomatic and engineering triumph—and possibly a new icon uniting continents through vision and infrastructure.
