Maasai Mara Enters World Book of Records for Iconic Wildlife Migration

The Maasai Mara National Reserve has earned a spot in the World Book of Records for hosting the world’s largest and most dramatic annual terrestrial wildlife migration. Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes cross the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem in search of greener pastures, drawing millions of tourists eager to witness the spectacle. The World Book of Records praised the migration’s scale and ecological impact, recognizing its contribution to conservation and sustainable tourism. Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntuntu welcomed the recognition, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and security within the reserve. With over 95 animal species and 570 bird species, the Maasai Mara remains a cornerstone of Kenya’s rich biodiversity.
