From Myth to Museum: Paris Exhibition Redefines Cleopatra’s Story

The Arab World Institute’s Mystery of Cleopatra exhibition offers a captivating journey into the life and legacy of one of history’s most iconic rulers. Running from June 2025 to January 2026 in Paris, the show reclaims Cleopatra VII from centuries of myth and male-dominated narratives. Instead of her romantic relationships, it chooses to spotlight her political prowess and cultural influence. Through immersive installations, rare artefacts, and modern artistic interpretations, the exhibition explores how Cleopatra has been remembered—from ancient Egypt to Hollywood and global pop culture. Highlights include a 3D portrait from an ancient coin and a market-stall installation featuring Cleopatra-branded goods. It’s a bold reimagining of a queen whose image still shapes conversations around power, gender, and historical memory today.
