Burkina Faso Junta Unveils Chinese-backed Cement Plant

Burkina Faso’s junta government has inaugurated a new Chinese-backed cement plant, marking another step toward economic self-reliance. The plant, named Société Industrielle Sino Burkina de Ciments SA (CISINOB SA), boasts a daily production capacity of 2,000 tons and is expected to create hundreds of jobs for local youth. Junta leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, presided over the inauguration ceremony. He praised the project as a symbol of a respectful and mutually beneficial partnership with China. The plant is part of Burkina Faso’s broader strategy to forge an economic future less reliant on Western influence. It is expected to boost the country’s construction sector and infrastructure development, further reinforcing its independence and sovereignty.
