Liberian President Suspends 450 Officials in Bold Anti-corruption Move

Liberian President Joseph Boakai has ordered the suspension of over 450 top government officials without pay for failing to declare their assets, as required by national anti-corruption laws. The suspension will last one month unless the affected officials comply with the law and submit the necessary documentation. Boakai, who took office last year, pledged to fight corruption and ensure accountability—goals he says are undermined by noncompliance with asset disclosure rules.
