WHEN starting a business, invest time to deeply understand the industry you are venturing into and the customers you’ll be servicing.
This is what Ujamaa Live Africa realised when we attended the Cheeba Cannabis and Hemp Training Centre event which took place in Joburg recently.
It was aimed at encouraging young and old South Africans to start cannabis and hemp businesses or any other business to help create job opportunities within Mzansi and the African continent.
As well as to understand the uses and benefits of cannabis and hemp and its regulations.
The event was held in partnership with Vital Veggies and Training Force.
Daniel Orelowitz, the managing director of Training Force, the company that specialises in providing specific skill training in different fields across 12 sectors, was speaking during the launch:
“This collaboration will provide learners with access to over 45 Training Force sites throughout the country and the seven official Cheeba Cannabis and Hemp Training Centres,” he said, adding that for people to succeed they need knowledge and skills.
“Hemp is a versatile crop with numerous applications, including food, fuel, and fibre, and contains cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound with a range of health benefits.
Despite the prospects, the industry is still in its early stages, particularly in Africa, where knowledge and training opportunities are limited.”
Linda Siboto, co-founder of Cheeba Cannabis Training, said through Training Force, they will be able to reach out to as many people as possible.
Linda said they also offer Seta accredited programmes such as NQF Level 2 and 4 which covers programmes like “How to Start a Hemp Business,” “Hemp Cultivation and Processing,” and Africa’s first accredited Hempcrete Building course in partnership with Afrimathemp, accredited by the SA Council for Architectural Profession and the Engineering Council of SA, and many more programmes.
